Why Be Dementia Friendly?
Becoming a dementia-friendly community means creating a place where people living with dementia feel respected, supported, and able to stay connected. With over 400,000 Australians currently living with dementia, we all have a role to play in helping people remain active in their communities for as long as possible.
A dementia-friendly Yarra Ranges is one where local businesses, services, public spaces and neighbours understand the challenges of dementia — and respond with kindness, inclusion, and practical support.
When we make our community easier to navigate for someone with dementia, we make it better for everyone.
Look out for us in Dementia Action Week. There will be a public event "A bend in the Road, not the end of the road" hosted by Council and facilitated by Caladenia.
We will make sure to keep you posted!
